The eagle conveys the majesty of God's only begotten Son.

John's purpose for writing his Gospel is plain: "These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31). John wants to communicate clearly that Jesus is divine, the Son of God.

John records many sayings of Jesus where he says "I am."

These sayings of Jesus are intended to call to our memory the words of God from the burning bush when Moses asked him his name. He said, "I am who I am." Tell them "I am has sent me to you" (Exodus 3:14). This is the root of the name Jehovah or Yahweh.

In John, Jesus is the Eagle.
