Every summer for one week we open our doors specifically to reach the children in our community. It’s a rewarding week full of excitement! Without question, our Vacation Bible School and Creative Arts Camp attract more children and families to our church than any other FBNO event.
Every year I have the opportunity to have conversations with children that want to know what it means to be a Christian and how they can become one. Some children are going through difficult situations at home and share their hearts with us regarding those issues. Other kids tell us that VBS/CAC is the most exciting week of the summer for them. We meet parents at our family night that will not come to a church any other time throughout the year.
These types of opportunities happen because we as a church are willing to open up our facilities, volunteer our time, and invest in the lives of children. We do this as a church because it is our priority to take the Gospel everywhere, and what better way to do that than reach out to those who live in our immediate community? Some of you reading this probably became a follower of Jesus at a VBS when you were a child. Would you be willing to return the favor for another child? Could you give up a few mornings or afternoons to teach children the Bible, walk them from one location in the church to another, or help serve snacks during snack time?
I pray that you will consider this unique opportunity to serve children and families the week of July 15-19. You will be making an investment that will last for an eternity!
